Bible Study Group Report

I think that it is safe to say that in our small group of seven we all look forward to the fellowship of our two-hour meeting once a week, and the serenity that comes as we read and contemplate chapters of the faith-related book we have selected.

Last year, Dorothy Mash joined us as leader for our meetings . We read Herbert O'Driscoll's book, "Prayer among Friends”, a small book full of his simple prayers and ponderings about finding God's grace in ordinary things. We took a recess for the four lectures of Lent at Holy Trinity, then again for the summer months.
As the group started up last fall, Gail Putz took Dorothy's place as leader. We chose a new book, "The First Christmas", written by Marcus Borg and John D. Crossan. This is a study of the Gospel narratives of the birth of Jesus, fulfilling the prophesies of the Old Testament, and the theological meaning of the stories and parables for our life and times. After a break for Advent lectures and the Christmas season at Holy Trinity, we are gathered again, once a week, for those two hours of calm in the busyness of daily life.

Respectfully submitted,
