Purse for Alexis
We want to give Alexis a tangible expression of our appreciation and good wishes, so contributions to her “purse” would be very acceptable.  Please give your cheques/cash to Dianne Keats, the Rector’s Warden, clearly marking the former “Alexis’s gift”.

Farewell to Alexis Please join us at 4 p.m. for a special service of Evening Prayer as we give
thanks to God for Alexis’ ministry here and ask a blessing on her future. A pot-luck supper
will follow.

WORLD EARTH DAY
We are joining with many churches and community organizations across Canada to observe World Earth Day.  We ask you to show your support for saving the environment of “this fragile earth, our island home” by switching off your lights for one hour at 8 p.m. on March 29th.

Cathedral Service
On Sunday 20th April, the annual confirmation service will take place at Christ Church Cathedral at 4:00 p.m.  Every church is invited to present candidates for:-

CONFIRMATION - traditionally seen as the “completion” of our rite of baptism (or “christening”).  The bishop’s hands are laid on your head as a sign of our episcopal fellowship.  This sacrament is now usually performed at the age of eighteen or older.
REAFFIRMATION: - people who have been baptized and confirmed, but want to renew their commitment, usually after a period of absence from participation in the church.
RECEPTION: - those people whose rites of initiation were performed in another branch of the episcopal church (e.g. Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, etc.) can be formally “received” into the Anglican communion.  Confirmation is the appropriate rite for members of non-episcopal churches (United, Baptist, Presbyterian etc.) who convert to Anglicanism.

If you feel that any of these is something that you would like to pursue, have a word with the Rector.

Scripture readings for next Sunday: Acts 2:14a, 22-32, Psalm 16, 1 Peter 1:3-9, John 20:19-31.
