Easter treats
The ACW invite all parishioners to join them in a special project to provide Food Bank children with a few Easter treats.  Just use a small ziplock bag, enclose small Easter eggs or candies, zip it up and place in a box provided on the ACW table in the library on Palm Sunday, March 16th, and these will be taken to the Food Bank before Easter.

Annual Parish Vestry
A great vote of thanks to all those who made our annual vestry such a positive experience.  It was a time of celebration,  reflection and community building.  And many thanks to all those kind souls who helped with the set-up, provided muffins and scones, served tea and coffee and particularly those who cleaned up.  Congratulations to those who were appointed or elected to positions of leadership.  We take a moment this morning to ask a blessing on them.

Purse for Alexis
We want to give Alexis a tangible expression of our appreciation and good wishes, so contributions to her “purse” would be very acceptable.  Please give your cheques/cash to Dianne Keats, the Rector’s Warden, clearly marking the former “Alexis’s gift”.

Cathedral Service
On Sunday 20th April, the annual confirmation service will take place at Christ Church Cathedral at 4:00 p.m.  Every church is invited to present candidates for:-

CONFIRMATION - traditionally seen as the “completion” of our rite of baptism (or “christening”).  The bishop’s hands are laid on your head as a sign of our episcopal fellowship.  This sacrament is now usually performed at the age of eighteen or older.
REAFFIRMATION: - people who have been baptized and confirmed, but want to renew their commitment, usually after a period of absence from participation in the church.
RECEPTION: - those people whose rites of initiation were performed in another branch of the episcopal church (e.g. Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Lutheran, etc.) can be formally “received” into the Anglican communion.  Confirmation is the appropriate rite for members of non-episcopal churches (United, Baptist, Presbyterian etc.) who convert to Anglicanism.

If you feel that any of these is something that you would like to pursue, have a word with the Rector.  You should also make an effort to attend the study session on Wednesday March 5th, at 7:30 p.m.  (or Friday March 7th at 2:00 p.m.) when we shall be looking at expressions of personal commitment.

Badges
Some people seem to have given up wearing their badges for Lent!  It is really helpful if we try to help others (especially newcomers) remember who we are.  If you have lost your badge or never had one, Barb, our secretary will be happy to order one for you.  No charge!

The Altar Guild are requesting donations of greenery and spring flowers to decorate the church for Easter.  The Altar Guild members and helpers will be at the church on Saturday March 22nd, to receive your offerings (any time after 9:00 a.m.)  Would helpers and Altar Guild members who are available to help with the decorating on the 22nd and for the removal of flowers on Tuesday March 25th, please sign the notices in the flower room.  Thank you.

We meet at 10:00 a.m. in the library to hear the story of the very first Palm Sunday, receive our palm crosses and walk in procession to church, recalling the joy and excitement of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
