Learning the Labyrinth

Thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of our Sunday School and the inspiration of their former teacher, Peter Johnson, Holy Trinity has a wonderfully helpful tool for prayer. It is called a labyrinth, an ancient but very accessible device that carries a pattern for our walking meditation. It is a kind of metaphor for the spiritual journey that we all walk as Christians - the path from baptism to glory.

Our labyrinth is unique in that it is painted in the colours of the liturgical year and it includes eight texts from the Bible. As we walk this journey we are guided by the church’s regular pattern of worship and fed by Holy Scripture.

The labyrinth will be in place on the floor of the Griffiths Hall from Wednesday 3rd March through Easter Day, 4th April. Let us make good use of it during this special session. It will be available for individuals to walk at the following times:-

Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Sunday (before or after worship) 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Please note that it takes about 20 minutes to complete the labyrinth journey and so we ask that you take account of that when planning to walk it!

Wednesday evenings 7:30 p.m.

24th February - Introductory session

3rd March - Walking the labyrinth with music

10th March - The labyrinth and the church’s year

17th March - The labyrinth’s eight texts

24th March - Walking the labyrinth with music

The funding of the labyrinth project was made possible by generous donations given in memory of Robert Tingle and Sheila Carmichael. Both of these people walked a faithful journey.
