During Lent last year a large number of people (including several newcomers and members of other parishes) attended the course “Too Many Cooks?” The rector, with his passion for gourmet food, used culinary analogies to look at the different ways in which the Good News of Jesus Christ is presented by each of the four evangelists. As well as helping us understand the unique and fascinating contributions that Mark, Matthew, Luke and John each made to the formation of the Christian story, the rector gave us four actual recipes that illustrated their techniques and approaches. Scholarship and succulence coming together!
The Advent Course focused on three incidents in the Christmas scriptures - the fact that there was “no room at the inn”, the revelation of such important news to a group of shepherds and the significance of the quest of the Magi. We explored ways in which these three details can help us as individuals in our personal faith journey and motivate the church in its joint mission and ministry.
I warmly encourage anybody who has not attended the Lent and Advent Courses to do so.
Respectfully submitted,
