STRAWBERRY TEA & CHRISTMAS BAZAAR REPORT

2010 STRAWBERRY TEA & CHRISTMAS BAZAAR REPORT

Strawberry Tea
We made a last minute decision to have a Strawberry Tea and there was a massive joint effort to organize and bring this event to fruition.  Because of the wet spring and lack of sunshine, there was no guarantee from the farmers that the strawberry crop would be ready for our chosen date of June 19.  However, through faith we forged ahead and, in answer to our prayers, we were able to serve our delicious local strawberries.

The only moment of panic was when the power went off!  Fortunately, the coffee was brewed and the water for the tea was bubbling happily on the gas stove – so disaster was averted!

Christmas Bazaar
When I looked out of my window in the early hours of December 20 and saw the snow falling so heavily, that was the end of my night’s sleep.  Our brave volunteers slid and slithered to the church for the final preparations.  Despite our fears and trepidation we were delighted that so many people made the effort to come along and enjoy the bake, book, jewellery and craft sales, raffle and silent auction and, of course, the delicious tea so painstakingly prepared and beautifully served.  All in all, a wonderful afternoon of fellowship and fun.

Thank you to all my wonderful team and ancillary helpers (including the people who cleared the sidewalks) for their untiring efforts to make these events so successful.  My thanks also to the many people who so generously donated money to cover expenses.  As a result, we were able to raise $3,530.75 from the Spring Tea and $4,558.25 from the Christmas Bazaar for a total of $8,089.00.

Respectfully submitted,
Letta Lewis
