Looking forward to Lent 2018….

Lent Study Series

Our Lent course will be a little different this year.  Our Bishop, Melissa Skelton, wants us to use a booklet of “Offering and Reflection” prepared by the Brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist.  It is based on the Gospel of John, and provides a wonderful way of engaging with the God “whose self-definition is love and who sent His son so that we may experience life in its fullness”.

For each participant there is a daily journal, which is a helpful and practical way of making the scriptures your own.  We will then get together as a group for four sessions to share our thoughts as well as studying the background and theological themes of John’s Gospel.

See the Rector to obtain your journal ($5.00) and pick up the purple leaflet at the back of church for details of the plenary sessions.

Because of the dark nights and inclement weather, Wednesdays evenings have not worked for this years year's Lenten study series. Consequently, we shall be meeting on Friday afternoons at 2pm ONLY

“You Have No Bucket”

We hope the title of this week’s session of our Lent course intrigues you.  It is part of a fascinating conversation that Jesus has with a Samaritan woman beside Jacob’s well.  It is only recorded in John’s Gospel (4:4 -42).  Come and join us at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday 7th March (or 2:00 p.m. on Friday 9th March). Bring along your bible and your thinking cap!

"I AM" statements"

Jesus helps us understand his identity by means of seven metaphors (why seven? Come and find out!)

Church School
Children meet for Church School during the 10:00 a.m. service. The older children join us in Church at the offering and take part in the communion.
